How it Works:

  • The Lumenis Nd:YAG technology allows us to deliver a precise dosage of energy to each vein, with minimal risk to the skin. During your treatment, laser energy is delivered through a special hand piece to the targeted vein, in a series of short pulses. The laser energy is absorbed by the blood vessels causing thermocoagulation (clogging) of the blood vessel. The treated veins are gradually resorbed by the body.

What to Expect During Your Treatment:

  • Most patients describe Nd:YAG as a “hot pinch”, or a “rubber band snap.”
  • Treatment time varies from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on size of treatment area.

What to Expect After Your Treatment:

  • After the treatment you may experience redness and possible bruising for approximately 2 weeks.
  • You can return to work/normal activities immediately following your treatment.
  • Makeup (if performed on the face) can be worn immediately following the treatment as long as the area is not tender.

Ideal Number of Treatments:

  • Significant improvement occurs in most cases with one or two treatments. However, new veins may form near the area that was previously treated. The procedure may be done every four to eight weeks.
